Mr. Hobart is a partner at Hennigan, Bennett & Dorman
LLP where he specializes in the litigation and trial of complex
commercial cases and debtor/creditor business relations. He
has also represented clients in transactional and financing
matters and in governmental protests and appeals. He has been
recognized as a Southern California Super Lawyer from 2006
to the present.
Mr. Hobart has tried and litigated cases in state and federal
courts and argued before state and federal appellate panels.
His practice focuses on aviation, commercial fraud, banking
and finance, securities, and professional negligence.
Mr. Hobart’s representative experience includes such
clients and matters as
• Evergreen International Aviation, Inc.,
a global aviation services company, in multi-million dollar
fraud, contract, and bank financing actions, bondholder
matters, and a major debt refinancing.
• Hawaiian Airlines, Inc., Hawaii’s
largest and longest-serving airline and second largest provider
of passenger air service between the U.S. mainland and Hawaii,
in obtaining an $80 million judgment, plus an award of $3.9
million in attorneys fees, against Mesa Air Group, arising
from Mesa’s breach of a confidentiality agreement.
Hawaiian ultimately recovered from Mesa a cash settlement
payment of $52.5 million. Mr. Hobart also represented Hawaiian
in litigation and labor disputes relating to Hawaiian’s
Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings.
• Rabobank, a Dutch full-range financial
services provider, in a $500 million fraud action against
the Royal Bank of Canada involving Enron-related derivative
instruments and structured financings. Mr. Hobart also represented
Rabobank in a multi-million dollar professional negligence
against Rabobank’s former attorneys.
• Certain bondholders of Adelphia Communications
Corporation in complex disputed inter-debtor claims
and causes of action.
