Mr. Mockler, an associate at Hennigan, Bennett & Dorman
LLP, specializes in complex business litigation and has broad
experience in state, federal and international litigation
and arbitration.
Mr. Mockler is a member of a team of HBD attorneys representing
a subsidiary of Sempra Energy, a fortune 500 energy services
company, in a series of disputes with the California Department
of Water Resources over a long-term energy purchase agreement.
He has also represented the founder of mortgage lender DiTech
in proceedings against a Big Four accounting company regarding
flawed tax advice. Since 2006, Mr. Mockler has been involved
in the representation of San Diego Gas & Electric Company
in litigation seeking refunds from governmental entities for
overcharges on sales of power during the California energy
crisis.
Prior to joining HBD, Mr. Mockler worked for the Amsterdam
office of London-based Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, where
he practiced international commercial arbitration. Mr. Mockler’s
work at Freshfields included obtaining a $60 million arbitration
award on behalf of a Dutch investor in a Russian steel mill
and obtaining a favorable settlement on behalf of an Indian
project development company in an arbitration dispute with
major oil companies.
Before going abroad, Mr. Mockler was an associate with O’Melveny
& Myers LLP in Los Angeles.
