Smith, a partner with the firm, is a litigator specializing
in complex commercial litigation. Ms. Smith has extensive experience
in state and federal securities actions, partnership and real
estate disputes, and matters involving corporate governance.
Representative matters include actions by several large institutional
investors against a financial services institution involving
the purchase of more than $200 million of Parmalat-related
securities, actions by institutional investors against several
investment banks in connection with their purchases of more
than $1 billion of Enron-related securities, and representation
of Orange County in its litigation against various financial
and other institutions following its Chapter 9 bankruptcy
filing, resulting in the recovery of nearly $900 million for
the County of Orange.
