Thomas B. Watson

Mr. Watson specializes in the litigation and trial of complex commercial cases. His practice focuses on securities, accounting malpractice, antitrust, trade secret misappropriation, energy and the False Claims Act.

As part of a team of lawyers, Mr. Watson represented two whistleblowers in connection with a qui tam lawsuit brought against HCA Inc., the nation’s largest for-profit healthcare provider, for Medicare cost-report fraud. HCA Inc. paid $631 million to settle the case along with two other qui tam lawsuits.

Mr. Watson also represented Sempra Energy Resources in an arbitration brought by Occidental Energy Ventures Corp., in which Occidental alleged that Sempra breached fiduciary duties relating to the joint development of a power plant and sought more than $100 million in actual damages. Following an arbitration, the arbitration panel issued an award in favor of Sempra on all claims.
