Brian Yates is an associate at Hennigan, Bennett & Dorman
LLP. Mr. Yates joined Hennigan, Bennett & Dorman LLP’s
intellectual property department in 2007, where his practice
focuses on patent and technology litigation.
Prior to joining HBD, Mr. Yates spent several years at Christie,
Parker & Hale LLP, representing technology companies in
a wide range of intellectual property matters, including the
acquisition, exploitation, protection, and enforcement of
patents, trademarks, and trade secrets.
Mr. Yates’ litigation practice has involved second-chair
responsibility at all stages. The subject matter of his cases
have been extremely diverse, including trade secret misappropriation,
patent infringement, trademark infringement, breach of contract,
fraud, and various disputes concerning the scope and enforceability
of patent license agreements.
With respect to pre-litigation and non-litigation experience,
Mr. Yates’ responsibilities have involved managing large
domestic and foreign patent portfolios; providing opinions
on issues of patentability, validity, infringement, and regulatory
compliance; drafting and prosecuting U.S. and foreign patent
applications; working with inventors to identify alternative
embodiments and/or design-around parameters; conducting market
research and due diligence to evaluate potential licensees
and/or joint-development opportunities.
