 The
litigation and financial consulting group of Hennigan, Bennett &
Dorman LLP provides financial and economic litigation support on
many of HBD's client matters. Comprised of certified public accountants
and MBA's, each with significant experience in the fields of economics,
finance, accounting and auditing, statistics and litigation support,
the group brings expertise which assists in the intake, discovery
and trial phases of HBD's litigation and bankruptcy matters. Working
closely with the attorneys on each matter, the consulting group
brings a business and economics perspective which assists not only
in understanding, discovery and theorization of complex bankruptcy
and litigation matters but also in providing the damage assessment
and computation skills that allow much of the financial damage portion
of HBD's matters to be handled in house. When outside financial
experts are engaged, the consultants often act as the liaison between
attorneys and the experts in order to aid in the development and
understanding of expert theories and damage analyses. Often times
the extent of damages and the most effective means of deriving them
are known to the litigation team well in advance of the engagement
of experts, allowing for meaningful and substantive settlement discussions
to be held prior to incurring the costs of experts, resulting in
substantially lower overall costs to the clients. Development of
complex computerized damage and economics assessment models are
a specialty of the consulting group and their work has played pivotal
roles in many of HBD's matters.
The consulting group also provides bankruptcy
claims administration, trial support, audio/video trial presentation
and trial graphics and demonstrative development services to HBD.
The in house provision of these services and the in house creation
and development of such items provides for a more effective, efficient
and lower cost development process as compared to the use of third
party vendors who are neither on site nor as familiar with the core
aspects of each case as the consultants who are integrated into
the case theory and development process.
