PROFESSIONAL OPPORTUNITIES AT HENNIGAN, BENNETT & DORMAN LLP

Are you interested in working on complex and challenging cases while practicing law in a small, collegial environment? Are you ready to take significant responsibility in commercial disputes where hundreds of millions - and sometimes billions - of dollars are on the line? Are you interested in joining a firm that rewards individual merit and results? If so, HBD may be the place for you.

Who are we? We are a firm of approximately forty-five highly-credentialed and experienced lawyers, dedicated to resolving the most difficult business problems with professionals skilled in complex commercial litigation, bankruptcy and reorganization matters, and intellectual property disputes. While we have chosen to remain relatively small, we take on cases traditionally assigned to law firms many times our size. We pride ourselves on delivering innovative and practical solutions in a wide range of commercial disputes of unusual size and complexity.

Have you heard of us? Perhaps not. We do not go out of our way to promote ourselves. Rather, we think that the results we achieve speak for themselves.

What results? We succeed in cases with the highest of stakes by employing a unique combination of practice areas and skills. For example, we represented Orange County, California, as the lead reorganization counsel in connection with the largest municipal bankruptcy in the history of the United States, involving the restructuring of more than $10 billion in debt, and we achieved confirmation of a plan of debt adjustment in just eighteen months. Recoveries under that plan depended in part on litigation recoveries, and we served as lead litigation counsel in fifteen resulting lawsuits filed against Merrill Lynch and various financial advisors, attorneys, and accountants, ultimately recovering more than $871 million on behalf of the County. We have achieved similar synergistic success in many other matters, and we gladly will provide you with a more detailed listing of our various engagements upon request.

How do we do it? We achieve these results by integrating our practice areas. Our lawyers actively participate in matters originating in practice groups other than their primary area of specialty. We also have our own professional staff of financial analysts and forensic accountants, whom we involve in our cases early and often.

We have also made major investments in the most current computer and communications tools, and we own state-of-the-art trial presentation systems, video teleconferencing systems and graphics creation technologies. We staff our cases leanly and are able to provide unusually interesting work to our associates and outstanding, cost-effective legal service to our clients. Our professionals have 24-hour real-time access to millions of pages of digital documents from desktop computers, firm-provided home computers, and portable computers on the road.

Finally, we actively seek compensation arrangements with clients that promote efficient, successful lawyering, including contingent and success fees in appropriate cases. Our firm culture is focused on results, not hours billed. When results are achieved, everyone prospers.

Sound interesting? We do not pretend to be nor do we wish to be a "full-service, major firm." Rather, we attract the best lawyers by offering a collegial, synergistic professional environment and providing fascinating, high-stakes work.

We seek attorneys with high levels of academic and professional achievement, demonstrated personal responsibility and leadership, integrity, and a desire for challenge and excitement in their legal careers.
