Ms. King, a former partner in Hennigan & Mercer and Hennigan, Mercer & Bennett, and now Of Counsel to HBD, is a civil business litigator. Ms. King’s representation has included both the prosecution and defense of civil fraud, breach of fiduciary duty, contract claims, and actions that have involved state and federal securities laws, the federal RICO Act, and bankruptcy laws, among other areas.

Following the 1994 Chapter 9 bankruptcy filing of Orange County California, Ms. King represented the county in various securities-related adversary actions against major Wall Street firms and rating agencies. The matters were successfully concluded with HBD having recovered nearly $900 million for Orange County.

Since then, Ms. King has prosecuted claims related to subprime lending practices in the manufactured housing market (see In re Oakwood Homes Corporation, et. al., Debtors. OHC Liquidation Trust v. Credit Suisse First Boston, et. al., 340 B.R. 510, 2006 Bankr. LEXIS 474 (2006)) and the defense of claims against a private equity partnership arising out of their turnaround efforts in the do-it-yourself business (see In re Hechinger Investment Company of Delaware, et. al., Debtors. The Liquidation Trust of Hechinger Investment Company of Delaware, Inc. v. Fleet Retail Finance Group, 327 B.R. 537, 2005 U.S. Dist. LEXIS 14386 (2005) (adversary action initiated in connection with bankruptcy was resolved in favor of Ms. King’s clients with summary judgment granted on such matters as solvency, reasonably equivalent value, no fraudulent transfers or breach of fiduciary duties).
