A. Brent Truitt
Mr. Truitt is a member of HBD’s Business Reorganization & Bankruptcy department, and he is based in New York. Mr. Truitt joined HBD in 2003 after fourteen years with Latham & Watkins in New York, where he was a partner in the Finance Department and Insolvency Practice Group.
Mr. Truitt has represented clients on all sides of distressed company workouts and Chapter 11 proceedings, including Chapter 11 debtors, troubled companies outside Chapter 11, official committees of bondholders, major secured and unsecured creditors and agents for bank syndicates in Chapter 11 cases and workouts, purchasers of assets from Chapter 11 debtors, and foreign administrators and banks in cross-border insolvency proceedings.
Since joining HBD, Mr. Truitt’s representations have included ad hoc committees of bondholders in the Adelphia and Oglebay Norton Chapter 11 cases, and Onex Corporation in connection with its equity investment in Magellan Health Services. He also defended New Century Financial Corporation in litigation commenced by certain of its “warehouse” lenders and represented the Chapter 7 trustee for Brobeck, Phleger & Harrison in litigation and other efforts to recover funds for distributions to creditors.
